I take an integrative approach to therapy that is grounded in CBT while drawing on elements of DBT, ACT, and ISTDP. This means your therapy is tailored to you and responsive to your needs. Some sessions may focus on building practical tools for managing challenges, while others may explore deeper emotional patterns and relationships. My goal is to provide evidence-based strategies alongside genuine compassion, helping you create lasting change in the way you think, feel, and live.

My Approach

What To Expect

Therapy is a collaborative process that begins with understanding your concerns, personal history, and goals. Depending on your needs, we may focus on practical strategies for present-day challenges or explore deeper patterns shaped by past experiences. The goal is to help you better understand yourself and support meaningful change in your daily life. Sessions are typically 50 minutes in length.

I currently offer weekday appointments, primarily on Mondays and Fridays, with some flexibility. Sessions are usually available between 7:00 AM and 1:00 PM PT (11:00 AM – 5:00 PM AT, Halifax time).

Appointments are virtual (Zoom), using the package built for healthcare professionals that is PHIPA-compliant.

CBT

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a structured approach that helps you understand how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are connected. We’ll work together to identify unhelpful thoughts and behaviours and practice more balanced ways of coping. CBT includes between-session strategies to help you apply what you’re learning in real life. It’s a widely researched therapy that can be helpful for anxiety, depression, OCD, and PTSD.

ISTDP

Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy centers on early life experiences and unresolved emotions from the past that shape how we respond to situations today. It is especially helpful for issues like anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, and medically unexplained physical symptoms. We work to uncover and experience these blocked emotions in a safe, supportive way, to reduce anxiety and improve emotional expression in a focused, time-limited format.

DBT

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy was originally designed to help people with emotion dysregulation and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). It combines cognitive and behavioural strategies with mindfulness and acceptance-based practices. While I don’t offer comprehensive DBT, I integrate DBT-informed skills to help with managing intense emotions, reducing impulsive behaviours, and improving relationships.

ACT

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a behavioural therapy focused on building psychological flexibility. We will strengthen your ability to accept, stay present with, and open to your experiences while moving toward what matters most. Rather than trying to eliminate uncomfortable thoughts or feelings, ACT helps you relate to them differently so they have less influence over your actions. Through mindfulness and committed action we’ll work on creating a more meaningful life.
